This 180 mile walking holiday along the River Thames is between the source at ThamesHead and the Thames Barrier in Greenwich. You walk via Oxford, Henley, Marlow, Hampton Court, Kew and London.

“Accommodations and service were splendid. I did not receive the information packet at the first hotel where I stayed in Reading. This was not the fault of Let’s Go Walking but the oversight of the hotel where I was staying. Knowing that I was supposed to receive this packet, I asked the management at the hotel twice about the parcel – when I arrived the first afternoon and as I left the next morning. They indicated no knowledge of such packet. The company, Let’s Go Walking, was responsive in rectifying the mistake. I received a call from the company while I was walking through Lower Shiplake. The company dispatched a driver with my packet to the next destination, Henley-on-Thames, which was waiting on me when I arrived for my next night’s lodging. Thank you!”
How did you hear about us? “Initially, from a friend. This is the third time I have used this company”
Have you been on one of our walking holidays before? “Yes. I started the Thames Path walk in the summer of 2019. COVID-19 impeded my progress for several years, but I resumed my walking last summer. In 2019, I walked from the source of the Thames at Kemble to Oxford. In 2022, I walked from Oxford to Reading. Do you have comments or observations about the accommodations provided that may help us to improve our holidays?
We had great hotels and B&B. Nice people all the way.
Good choice, and good food all along.
If I was to suggest a change, it would have been not to make use of the more “chain” hotels in Brentford and Reading. But of course I do not know it there were any B&B available with the three rooms we needed. 😉 In Windsor, though, it was fine, because we were very close to the city center and castle.

Did your holiday come up to expectation?
We were a hit by very bad weather right for our 2 first days. But then it was fine almost every day. Some portions of the early days, the path was very narrow at places, and in the fields.

Do you have comments or observations about the accommodations provided that may help us to improve our holidays?
Everything worked well with the accommodation. Our luggage was always there when we arrived which was normally between 2pm and 3.30pm. Only one location took the luggage into our room and only one other assisted in carrying our luggage up to our room.

“Yes,definitely”

Were the guide books and maps helpful?
“They were extremely helpful in fact we didn’t use the separate maps provided”
Anything else? “Very pleased with your organisation and the information provided. We were uncertain about walking every day for so long but it was fine and we saw many interesting and unexpected events. The National Trail book was very easy to follow. Didn’t get lost once! We picked your holiday because we felt the distance covered over 9 walking days was within our capabilities whereas one company did the distance in six days which we felt was too intensive for us. Thank you for providing us with a perfect holiday.”

How were the transportation facilities? “Driver was on time for both pickups, Very pleasant chap, Knowledgeable about local area (and beyond)”

Were the guide books and maps helpful? “Yes – I did not need the larger maps as I have OSMaps on my phone, with the individual days loaded as routes. The path is very well marked so I was confident that I didn’t need paper maps if the phone/powerbank failed, plus of course the guide book described the route too. The book was also good for info, history and suggestions”

Anything else? “Facilities for getting any food or refreshment en route were surprisingly difficult. We took drinks and fruit with us most days. Quite a few pubs etc mentioned in the guide book had clearly closed down”
